Police protection is provided by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department. 911 is active for emergency calls only.  For other security matters, call the Sherrif at 1.800.881.5911 and ask for the dispatcher.

Fire protection and emergency medical services are available by calling 911. Fees may be charged for these services.

For non-emergency situations (example: parking violations) call the Sanilac County Sherrif at 1.800.881.5911.

What are the Lexington Heights Board Committees all about?
Lexington Heights Board Committees Overview

The Lexington Heights Board operates through four dedicated committees, each focused on specific areas of community management:

Bluff and Parkway Committee Members: Lynn, Liz, and Jan.

Beach, Jetties, and Boat Ramp Committee Members: John, Don, and Dottie.

Clubhouse and Playground Committee Members: Bob, Jan, Julie, and John.

Collections Committee Members: Bob, Liz, John, and Dottie.

All Board members actively participate in one or more of these committees. During each Board meeting, committee representatives provide updates on current projects and initiatives within their respective areas of responsibility.

Property taxes are paid to Worth Township and property owners should contact them regarding tax issues.

Building Permits are issued by Sanilac County through Worth Township.

Beaches, stairs, jetties, the clubhouse and parkways are maintained by Lexington Heights Inc.  We can assist with these issues.

City water and sewer services are provided by Worth Township.  6903 South Lakeshore Road Lexington, MI 48450. You can contact them at 810-359-8852.

No person shall trim, cut, or dislodge any shrubs, grass, trees, or vegetation from the parks, parkways, or bluff within the corporate limits of Lexington Heights, Inc., without a written permit from the Board of Trustees.  At a minimum, a fine of $500.00 and/or cost to restore the property to its original condition will be imposed for unauthorized cutting on the bluff and parkways. “By-Laws 2023”.  The bluff and parkways are owned by Lexington Heights Inc.

The parkway along the bluff is owned and maintained by Lexington Heights Inc. As your Board of Trustees, we are entrusted with the stewardship of this scenic area—including the bluff and beaches—to ensure its ongoing preservation and care.

To ensure our parkway, bluff, and beaches are clean, safe, and available for all Lex-HI residents (and guests) to enjoy, there are some basic rules that must be followed outlined in the Lexington Parkway Conversation notice.

Beach and Parkway Rules
  • Our beaches are for residents only.
  • No dogs are allowed on the beach from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm.
  • All pets must be on a leash.
  • Please park golf carts near posts.
  • No storage of beach items overnight.
  • No class containers.
  • No diving off jetties.
Please Clean Up After Your Pet!

Lexington Heights has two community meetings during the summer. One is the Annual meeting and the other is the General meeting. Lexington Heights follows the State of Michigan’s Open Meetings Act. Therefore, you do not have to own property to attend a meeting. At the Annual and General meetings, we ask property owners to sign in and obtain a wrist band for voting purposes. Only property owners are allowed to vote. Community members are welcome to attend Board meetings. Member comments is a regular part of a Board meeting.

The Board of Lexington Heights has nine members. Five are elected one year and four are elected the next year. Terms are for two years. Elections are held in July. Candidates are nominated at the Annual meeting. If an interested party can’t attend the Annual meeting to be nominated in person, they can submit a letter of interest to the Board. Voting is held at the clubhouse in late July. Absentee voting is held a week or two prior to the election. Proxy votes are also accepted. Your name must be on the deed in order to vote.
